As a skilled leader and coach, Jason has more than 25 years of experience in real estate fundamentals, finance, trends, transactions, and development. Over the course of his career, he has transacted assets totaling more than 65,000 units and $1.25 billion while managing teams and companies for process efficiency and capital effectiveness. As practice leader for E5 Advisors, LLC, and a member of both ULI and NMHC, Jason possesses insightful knowledge about key markets across Texas and the southern United States, having acquired, developed, managed and sold assets in a variety of asset classes and joint-venture structures.
Jason has played pivotal roles in crisis-management challenges and opportunities, including the consolidation of the multifamily REIT industry, equity and debt market “bubbles” and corrections, the Great Recession/Housing Crisis, natural disasters, and the most recent challenge of COVID-19. Jason has participated in the recapitalization of various private firms and restructuring of operating teams, focusing on right-sizing organizations to their optimal accountability structures.
After joining Security Capital Group to learn the real estate trade, Jason worked on various corporate finance, management consolidations and initial public offerings SEC filings, most notably assisting with teams engaged on Security Capital Industrial which ultimately became ProLogis and its multimillion square foot logistical footprint, and the merger of Security Capital Pacific Trust and Security Capital Atlantic which ultimately became Archstone and its portfolio of high-quality assets. Jason then ventured into oil & gas distribution and joined Petro Stopping Centers to work extensively on the re-capitalization and restructuring of this family company, integrating both ExxonMobil and Volvo Trucks as strategic investors and partners. Jason then returned to real estate finance and management and began work with TVO Realty Partners to manage a portfolio of multifamily assets for pension fund advisors, money managers, and family offices.
Upon joining the Lynd team, Jason helped grow the company to over 25,000 units from zero in 5 years, then went on to manage the entire operating enterprise and its portfolio of properties and 1,100 associates with locations coast-to-coast, providing key strategic vision and decision-making prowess. Allen Harrison then brought Jason in to lead the acquisitions effort, and ultimately tasked him to lead the acquisitions, dispositions, asset management, and property management disciplines, ultimately helping to produce superior and above-average IRR and equity multiple returns while fostering dynamic team growth and effective management of joint venture partners, lenders, and other notable stakeholders.
